Earlier, the Korea Football Association selected Cheonan as the site of the next national training site ahead of the deadline for the end of the Paju NFC Use Agreement signed with Paju City, Gyeonggi Province, and is spending hundreds of billions of won to build the Korea Football Center facility on about 45㎡ of land in Gasan-ri, Ipjang-myeon, Cheonan-si, Chungcheongnam-do.

However, candidate Huh Jung-moo, who ran for the 55th president of the Korea Football Association, promised to operate the two-track of the Paju NFC and Cheonan Football Center, or candidate Shin Moon-sun expressed his intention to reconsider the relocation of the Korea Football Association's office to the Cheonan Football Center, drawing opposition from communities in Chungcheong, including Cheonan.

Meanwhile, the 55th Korea Football Association presidential election, which ended on the 27th, was registered as candidates by current chairman Chung Mong-kyu, visiting professor Shin Mun-seon and former national soccer team coach Huh Jung-moo (from 1 to 3). The electors will consist of about 200 delegates, coaches, and players of the association, and the election will be held on January 8 next year.
